I really enjoyed the movement between you as observer and your dialogue in different scenes. Obviously these people are your friends, but it really contributed something beautiful to the thread of feeling out of place in your hometown and finding the comforts of home elsewhere. From the beginning of the narrative to the end it felt like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Beautiful work, I can’t wait to buy your book 💋

your writing is such a unique combination of thoughtful insight and instinctive feeling, equal parts funny and wistful. a pleasure to read.

This was such good writing, I feel like I’ve been cynical as hell about Substack for the last little bit because it’s so much garbage but this hooked me! Raw vulnerable AND well written. Thank you Kay!

I’m trans masc, I’ve never traveled outside the south, and now I fucking have to. You have given me hope for something more than drab little South Carolina
